Baby Named Yahoo! ... Really? Not!
It seems a Romanian couple was reported to have named their baby "Yahoo" because the couple met on the internet at Yahoo! (Thank goodness they didn't meet on the DogPile search engine! )Headlines: January 13th, 2005 Romanian Couple Name Their Kid Yahoo (Reuters-UK) Couple Names Baby Yahoo (The Register) January 24th, 2005 Reporter Fired Over Fake Yahoo Name (News.com) January 25th, 2005 Yahoo! Baby Revealed as a Hoax! (PCPro.co.uk) All this kerfuffle turned out to be a lie. The reporter, Ion Garnod, even went to the extent of getting a fake birth certificate! He said he did it to make himself look good!? His boss said, "If it were real, it would have been a good story indeed." (Reuters-UK) After looking at other cre8tive names, I'm wondering about this "Yahoo" name. Wouldn't it be better than ... Oym'unique A'Risin Starr Schlok Jay'Leiah Twy-emirah-n'Ava Gaggery ... I could go on and on ... :o) hmmm ... maybe they're all bad ... or maybe they're good ... what do you think? Leave a comment if you like. (More on this Topic ...)

Tips #1, #2, and #3 -- Naming Your Baby
1. Just because you spell your baby's name differently, doesn't mean there won't be a lot of children in their classes with names pronounced the same. For example, Dawson, Dausen and Dawsun are all pronounced the same. It'll still be confusing. I've seen Katelyn, Caitlin, K'tl'nn, Catlin, Catlyn, and Katelin. They're all pronounced the same. Nothing is stopping you from spelling your baby's name differently ... Just remember, if the name is popular, there'll be lots of children with the same sounding name in school. 2. It's better if the last letter of your baby's first name is different from the first letter of their last name. For example, Hollis Savage -- most people think you are saying "Holly Savage". It's get's tiring spelling your name for people everyday of your life! 3. Do you want your child to stand out or blend into their environment? A different name makes them stand out. That can be good or bad. A great idea is to give your baby one name that is "unique" or "cre8tive" and one that's more "common". When your child gets older, they can choose which name they want to go by, depending on how they feel about being "different". Number of AIDS Babies is going down
Even though just one AIDS baby is too many, we should be happy thta the number of AIDS Babies in the US is declining. Not so in other developing countries ...In the US, 2000 babies were born infected with HIV in the early 1990s. Now that number is down to just over 200 a year. In NYC, in 1990, 321 newborns were infected with the virus and in 2003 just 5 were. "What we were grappling with was death," said Dr. Stephen Nicholas, a pediatric AIDS specialist at Harlem Hospital Center, remembering the late 1980s and early 1990s. "We were preoccupied by death." The drop is due to improved drugs, aggressive public education and testing. Getting mothers to know their HIV status before they give birth is important, a problem complicated by issues involving privacy and politics. At first no name could be attached to HIV results. But in 1994, with thousands of babies dying of the virus, this law was changed. AZT attacks HIV in the blood and central nervous system. If taken during the second trimester and during labour the risk of transmitting HIV to the baby is much less. There's a 67% reduction in the risk of transmission if a woman takes AZT early enough. Better and better drugs are becoming available too ... Two of my adopted children were "drug babies" and FASE. They will suffer with the effects of it for their entire lives. It's been hell. If you want to more about me and my babies Click Here It's such an awful tragedy for babies to be born with any kind of sickness and the effects of drugs and alcohol are terrible. Please take care of yourself and your baby and ... PLEASE ... Know your HIV status early in your pregnancy. Help our babies be born healthy.

Why do Babies Sigh?
Babies sigh -- and it sounds so sweet and endearing. But do you know that a baby sigh also helps lungs develop and resets regular breathing patterns? Yes, and healthy babies sigh every 50 to 100 breaths to reopen tiny airways prone to collapse. The University Children's Hospital in Bern, Switzerland and Perth, Australia studied healthy infants sleeping in cribs and in their parents arms. They found that unhealthy babies sigh more often than healthy babies ... probably because they are struggling to reset their neurological breathing systems. An infant 's breathing gets just a little too regular ... and then they sigh ... which varies the breathing pattern and resets their systems. Researchers are hoping they can identify those babies who are most at risk of SIDS or cot death.
