It's cold weather again -- well, I guess it's summer in Australia ...Okay -- if it's cold weather where you live, use these guidelines to keep your baby warm. If it's hot weather, save these suggestions for when it IS cold. :-) - Dress him in one more layer of clothing than you have on.
- Dry, cold air takes moisture out of the skin so cover up his face with a scarf.
- Protect your baby's skin from the sun using sunblock -- even in severely cold weather. However, you shouldn't use sunblock on a baby under six months old -- put him in the shade or cover his face.
- If he's fussy and his skin is red and swollen, he's probably too cold.
- He's getting frostbite if he has greyish spots on his skin. If the skin is already transparent and shiny it's already frostbitten. Go to a walk-in medical clinic for medical advice and care.
- Is his neck sweaty and his face flushed? That probably means he's too hot and overdressed. Take off a layer of clothing.
I hope you have a great winter -- talk to you soon! Get More Info
